Everything Free 7 Days a Week in Southern Maine
The Great State of Illustration in Maine, with over 80 illustrators who call Maine home, is just one exhibit to see at Kennebunk's Brick Store Museum during free admission February. Above, an image from Damariscotta native Maurice “Jake” Day, who worked out west for Walt Disney Studios in the '30s. Jake convinced Walt that Bambi should be white-tailed and had two orphaned Maine deer shipped to California as models. During production, Disney commissioned Jake to photograph the flora & fauna in the Katahdin region. As a result, many of Bambi’s scenes are from the Baxter State Park area.
